45th Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk

The 2024 Charity took place on May 4th, 2024. Final fundraising results will be released at our Charity Walk Reception July 26th.

About the Charity Walk:

The Charity Walk, founded in 1974 and expanded statewide in 1978, is now Hawai‘i’s largest single-day fundraising event by a non-profit organization. Since its inception, more than $42.8 million has been raised to support hundreds of local charities throughout the state. Spearheaded by the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association and its non-profit arm Hawaii Hotel Industry Foundation, the Charity Walk is traditionally held every May on Hawai'i island, Kaua'i, Lāna'i, Maui, Moloka'i, and O'ahu. Money raised on each island or county stays there.

Maui County successfully raised $1.3 million benefiting 63 Maui County non-profit organizations in 2023. Since MHLA started hosting the Charity Walk in 1980, we have raised a cumulative total of $17.8 million in Maui. We continue to achieve and surpass our goals year after year with the continued support of our amazing community! We invite you back to our in-person event at the War Memorial special events field filled with fitness, fun, entertainment, and giveaways while raising funds and awareness for our island charities.

The 2.5-mile walk begins and ends at the War Memorial Special Events Arena. Volunteer course marshals will guide you along the route while our Aid Station Sponsors cheer you on and provide you with water and goodies throughout your morning exercise.

Aloha Maui,

I extend my sincerest gratitude for your unwavering dedication and support of this yearʻs Charity Walk. Your participation and contributions have not only made this event possible but also helped infuse a spirit of celebration and unity for the day.

I have immense pride in the quality of our 2024 walk. The delicious food, captivating entertainment, spectacular prizes, and seamless coordination were made possible by our collective efforts. Combining these efforts with the generous donations we received is humbling. It was fabulous to exceed $1.2M. This yearʻs money will undoubtedly make a profound difference for many Maui County Nonprofits and enable their services and programs to reach a large percentage of our residents.

I embrace the belief that Maui No Ka Oi creates magic in many ways. It is truly heartening to witness such a collaborative effort aimed at making a positive impact. Together, we have demonstrated the power of compassion and community spirit.

As a reminder, the last day to submit money is May 30, 2024. We’ll distribute checks to our local non-profits at our Charity Walk reception on July 26th at the Wailea Beach Resort!
