Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Student Conference

On behalf of the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism (AOHT) Board of Directors, we would like to cordially invite you to participate in the 2018 AOHT Student Conference. The event takes place on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 8:30am - 1:30pm at UH Maui College’s Pilina Building (Student Lounge).

The AOHT program is a part of the curriculum at three Maui public high schools (Baldwin, Lahainaluna & Maui High) and includes approximately 200 students. The program is a proven & successful business/school partnership that prepares young people for future careers in the visitor industry through a combination of school-based curricula and work-based experience.

The Student Conference is a wonderful opportunity for the AOHT schools to get together to meet members of the Visitor Industry, learn more about the “world’s largest industry,” share what they’ve learned, and experience a mock interview. Attached you will find a tentative schedule of events.

There are three ways that your business can participate:

• Be a Sponsor of the event for $500 – Your sponsorship will help to defray some of the conference costs while allowing the students to explore career path options through your businesses exposure at the all-day event.
• Career Fair – at least 15 businesses are needed to participate (one six-foot table will be provided)
• Mock Interviews – at least 20 volunteers are needed to assist as interviewers

We kindly recommend that businesses obtain a table in the Career Fair with a minimum of two to three employees – one to two for the Career Fair table and the other(s) to assist with mock interviews as they occur simultaneously.

This is an excellent opportunity to showcase your business to our AOHT program and support workforce development while providing meaningful careers for our youth in the Visitor Industry. We also invited you to join us for lunch and experience the rest of our exciting program, mingle with business leaders of today and meet the leaders of tomorrow.
