Meet the New GM of Hana Resort, Maui

We recently gained a new Hotel Manager of the renown Hana Resort. We asked Ryan Parker to introduce himself and give some insight on his career background that led to Maui. Here is what he had to say:

One could say I’ve always been inspired to be a world traveler and a hotelier. I spent my childhood lucky enough to have many trips, joining my parents on business trips and adventures everywhere from Hawaii to Europe to Montana and more. My inspiration is sharing warmth and engagement with our visitors and colleagues and helping each other be personally and professionally successful. I started my career in hotels with Hyatt in 2004 getting a foundation in hotel life at Hyatt Harborside in Boston. From there, I went to work with Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants for 12 years where I learned about lifestyle hotels, working as a Housekeeping Manager and then through many Operations roles to ultimately General Manager with Kimpton between hotels in Boston, Chicago and Santa Barbara. I was in San Francisco at a luxury historic hotel in Nob Hill, and in 2019 I landed here in Culver City bringing Destination by Hyatt to the Los Angeles community. I’d like to say that what I am most appreciative for is that I’ve been lucky enough to be surrounded by wonderful hoteliers who shared with me advice, support, care, critical feedback and direction. For that I am so grateful, and I believe it’s a great blessing to be able share and pay it forward to a new generation of hoteliers to help grow careers and their passion for hospitality too.
My hobbies include healthy cooking (no mayo please), hiking, fitness, Jeep off-roading/camping, and of course- adventure. My favorite travel experiences include being at Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro, seeing the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, surfing in Bondi Beach in Australia, and sailing in Mexico. I am lucky enough to share these experiences with my husband Rami, and our three furry dependents: Diego and Frida (dogs), and a fat cat named Budgie.

E komo mai, Ryan!
