WAILUKU, MAUI – Maui’s visitor industry invites Maui County students of high school and post-high school to apply for scholarship opportunities this April. Maui Hotel and Lodging Association (MHLA) offers three different scholarship programs: the Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT) Pathways scholarship, a UH Maui Hospitality & Culinary Student scholarship, and a scholarship aimed at MHLA Members & Family Members. Applications for all three scholarships can be found at mauihla.org.
About the AOHT Pathways Scholarship
The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association’s Academy of Hospitality & Tourism scholarship program is designed to promote the visitor industry as a career and profession in Hawaii and to provide financial assistance to students whose chosen career path is within the industry. The Scholarship Selection Committee grants preference to applicants who have participated in the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism Pathway program and/or whose major post-secondary educational objective is within the hospitality and tourism industry. Other fields may be considered if they are related to the visitor industry. Alumni AOHT students are also welcome to apply. Deadline for this application is April 25.
About the UH Maui Hospitality & Culinary Student Scholarship
Also designed to promote hospitality and culinary arts as a career and profession in Hawaii, the UH Maui Hospitality & Culinary Student Scholarship provides financial assistance to students who are currently attending the University of Hawaii Maui College and have chosen a career path in the field of hospitality or culinary arts. Awardees will be invited to accept awarded scholarships at Maui No Ka Oi Magazine’s Ai Pono Awards at the Ritz-Carlton Maui in Kapalua on April 26. Deadline for this application is April 17.
About MHLA Members & Family of Members Scholarship
The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association’s Member Scholarship program is designed to encourage and benefit members and their children in seeking higher education. Funds are provided as financial support to students who display excellence in academic achievement, leadership, and community service. Deadline for this application is April 25.
Funding for these scholarship programs is raised through the Annual Excellence in Education Golf Tournament, hosted by MHLA every August. For more information on how to help or donate to community causes such as these, visit www.mauihla.org.
