WAILUKU, MAUI – Today, the Visitor Industry and Maui Hotel & Lodging Association (MHLA) responded to Maui County & American Red Cross’s request for emergency assistance items for the communities of Kipahulu and Kaupo. The rockslide occurrence on May 11th left these areas inaccessible and in need of life-saving equipment during times when emergency services response is delayed.
MHLA successfully purchased and delivered two Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs), a $3500 donation, to the American Red Cross and encourages Maui to further contribute to those affected by the rockslides in East Maui. For donation information and coordination, please contact the Maui County Red Cross at (808) 254 - 8785 and [email protected].
"In times of crises and adversity, it is heartwarming to witness the kindness and support that can emerge from our community,” said Jenny Worth, Disaster Program Manager of American Red Cross Maui. “The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association has exemplified this spirit of generosity by stepping forward to assist those in need.”
In addition to the Kipahulu and Kaupo Community Donation, MHLA is co-hosting the Salvation Army’s Adopt a Backpack Campaign through July to provide school supplies to Maui’s keiki in need. For more information on how to help or donate to community causes such as these, visit HERE.
