KAHULUI, MAUI, HI (April 14, 2022) – Maui Hotel & Lodging Association (MHLA) kicked off April with two amazing events on Friday, April 8th, 2022, the Spring Na Kupuna Appreciation Event and the ClimbHi LEI Event.
MHLA partnered with Kaunoa Senior Services, Meals on Wheels and Congregate Nutrition programs for
the
Spring Na Kupuna Appreciation Event which successfully provided healthy, gourmet meals and
orchid plants to over 700 participating seniors around the island. Donations, volunteers and participants
came together from Andaz Maui at Wailea, Aston Kaanapali Shores, County of Maui, Fairmont Kea Lani,
Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, Grand Wailea, HawaiiUSA Federal Credit Union, Hyatt Regency
Maui Resort & Spa, Kaanapali Beach Hotel, Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club, Marriott Vacation Worldwide,
Montage at Kapalua Bay, Napili Kai Beach Resort, Pacific Panel Cleaners, Royal Lahaina, SGS
Landscaping, Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas, The Westin Maui
Resort & Spa, The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, and Wailea Beach Resort Marriott Maui.
Following the morning kupuna donations, joined Maui students at the Sheraton Maui for the ClimbHI LEI
workforce development event. The free program LEI, which stands for leadership, Exploration and
Inspiration, gave 130 students from high school and college connection building opportunities between
communities, businesses, organizations, and schools through conversation, games, lunch and a career fair.
“MHLA is very grateful to have the opportunity to partner with the ClimbHI organization to support the
annual LEI event for our Maui County high school students,”says Lisa Paulson, Executive Director of
MHLA. “Workforce development and providing the needed resources for our youth to succeed and seek
careers here at home is one of MHLA’s primary goals. We look forward to the continued partnership with
ClimbHI and its initiatives.”

Excellence in Education Golf Tournament, June 24
MHLA's 25th Excellence in Education Golf Tournament supports scholarships for our local high school
and UH Maui College students. Last year $30,000 was raised.
Maui County Charity Walk, August 20
The Charity Walk is one of the largest fundraising events in Hawaii. Since the Maui Hotel & Lodging
Association started hosting the event in 1980, Maui County has raised a cumulative total of $15.4 million,
benefitting hundreds of non-profit organizations on Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi. Most importantly, all the
funds raised on Maui remain in Maui County to benefit the local community and its residents.
