ClimbHI LEI Event Recap & Album

On April 4, 2024, we attended the 12th Annual LEI Program put on by ClimbHI and hosted at the Fairmont Kea Lani. Students from across the county attended to hear from leaders of Maui County and experience first hand what working in the hotels might entail. We were honored to have spoken to these students along side Senator Lynn DeCoite, County of Maui Chief of Staff, Leo Caires, Kono Davis of MEMA, Akasha Kauhola, a Manager of Courtyard Marriott (former Face of Aloha), and Crystal Lane, Manager of Talent and Culture at Fairmont. Our message was meant to inspire the youth to invest into themselves and community, engage in career opportunities and become positive leaders of Maui.

Skill sets from bed-making, table setting to front desk operations are some of the lessons given through this program. Students then attended a career fair of which many companies host interactive tables to engage highschool and UH Maui students in thought provoking conversations about career opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Our MHLA table had a fun trivia describing current trends of AI being used in the industry. We asked students to also participate in a survey describing their current career choice. Here are the general results of that survey:
