Membership
MHLA’s membership is comprised of visitor industry accommodations and allied organization in Maui County, united in our belief that a healthy and vibrant visitor industry, existing in harmony with the greater community, is important to the health and success of our islands.
• As of 2007, MHLA’s members collectively employed some 10,000 Maui County residents.
• More than half of all jobs in Maui County are in the visitor industry.
• In 2006, Maui County’s lodging industry generated more than $22 million in Transient Accommodations Tax.
• In 2006, Maui County’s visitor industry paid $82 million in real property tax.
On behalf of its members, the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association:
• Works with government agencies, lawmakers and representatives to support thoughtful policies that will help ensure the continued success and health of Maui County’s overall visitor industry and community.
• Advocates initiatives that are beneficial for the visitor industry and community.
• Supports and/or coordinates community programs endorsed by the hotel & lodging industry including charitable fundraising events and educational programs for students.
• Serves as a liaison between the hotel & lodging industry and community.
• Monitors and addresses public issues that are important to the hotel & lodging industry and its employees.
• Provides useful information to members, and supports programs that can benefit members and their employees.
